Well, I successfully got it to resend the
"failed message" (that is more than usual :) but nothing very
constructive. 

I restarted the build 5 minutes later
than I said earlier, so the rebuild will be  I20160504-0035. 
(Assuming it works). 

While we have been promised the connection
problems will be fixed soon with the addition of some new hardware, it
seems prudent to consider improving our "republish story". Accordingly,
I have opened Bug 492946 but, can not say that will
be done any time soon. :\  (i.e. in time for the Neon crunch).
