Re: [platform-releng-dev] Updated-update "plan" for Mars.2 RC2 and Neon M5 builds

Thanks to Brian de Alwis the problem has been determined to be in our Unit tests (and deep, private code that is no longer used).
So I have cancelled the re-builds and will work on promoting our final candidates over the next few hours.

Thanks,

Team,

Due to the issues described in bug 486804 [1] we are going to do another build, with EMF pre-reqs reverted. I'll schedule the Mars one for 2 PM (Eastern) and the Neon one for 4 PM (Eastern). The builds will be complete in 2 or 3 hours after they start, but unit tests will take another 6 to 12 hours to be complete.

The issue is still be investigated, but as of now, we do not know if it is a regression in EMF, or a "test-only" problem. And, in the worst case, even if our tests were making some incorrect assumption related to 'order' or iteraters, we might be making the same incorrect assumption in our code?

The goal is that by the time that build is ready (or before :) we will understand the root problem completely. But by having another build "in the wings", we will be in a position to provide one or the other. The current candidate, if it does turn out to be a "test only" problem. Or, the new one, if it is an EMF problem and EMF decides to revert their current fix.

So, as usual, leave the tip to each branch untouched until we announce!

Thanks,
