[platform-releng-dev] News from Releng 1: Mac App is now signed

Thanks to our persistent and kind Eclipse
Foundation IT staff, the Mac App signing service is working again, as of
this I-build ... so I hope any Mac "Early Adopters" can try it
out.
Actually, due to "work that still
has to be done" (431116)
if you install new software, or change preferences, it still writes it
"under" the Mac App, and thus breaks the signature ... but, so
far, I've not seen that it ever "checks again" after it runs
the first time. I am sure there are some conditions, or settings?, or tools?
that will "erase" the memory of it running and being signed,
and therefore would be back in the same boat of having to say "run
anyway". If anyone knows what those conditions or settings are, I'd
be interested to know. And, technically, there is still "signing
work" to do, to get the "Authorized Time Stamp" part of
the service to work again, but am sure the diligent IT staff will get that
ironed out before long. If not obvious, you'd have to "install fresh"
to get the signed app.
Just wanted to let you know! -- both
because I'm relieved :) -- but also so you can be on the look out for anything
that behaves differently.
