Re: [platform-releng-dev] BUILD FAILED - compilation failure - re-try at 2:15 AM Eastern (1007-0215)

Gerrit allows people to subscribe to notifications that they are interested in. Sending the notifications to a/this list where everyone has to read them without a way to unsubscribe is wrong.

I thought that build was used by Gerrit
Gerrit jobs are the one we can see in https://hudson.eclipse.org/platform/ and that name is suffixed by -Gerrit.

This list is more for our "production builds" ...
What do you call "our production builds"? Builds that publish artifacts to download.eclipse.org ?
I just suggested that because you said that triggering a new N-Build is generally too much work to be worth it, whereas this job is just clicking on an icon, so it may be a good complement to current automated builds.

and it might be confusing to get error messages from both?
The big benefit of this one is that it's easy to run and we can even configure it so that any platform contributor can kick a build if they want (actually, maybe it's already how it's configured).
About confusion, then it would indeed produce additional notifications, but Hudson only sends mails when there is a failure, so in an ideal world, it would send few notifications.
