[platform-releng-dev] Yet another I-build re-spin at 1 AM (Eastern) 0100
|
I'm sorry to drag out this week's I-build,
but ... there is a problem that I consider "blocking" ... we
could not contribute to the "Sim. Release" repo, and at least
one other project would be unable to "build against" our repository
specifically from today. The issues are described in
Bug 431767
- p2.ui.discovery missing from I20140401-1500 repository
At least one of the "fixes"
I'll be putting into might be a temporary work-around ... I try to sort
that out myself, but a "platform expert" or "rcp expert"
might take a look to decide if the "platform.feature" should
"include" the org.eclipse.core.runtime.feature.
Seems like it should ... it hasn't been
... nothing does, except equinox SDK used to ... so not sure if "things
still worked" by lucky coincidence that equinox.sdk used to include
it, ... or ... if it is really not needed to be specified as an included
feature ... perhaps not by anyone?
Thanks for your attention.

Re-spin I-build at 3 PM

I have scheduled a rebuild for 3 PM
(1500). No "function" should change, but Equinox deliverables
should be back to their normal packaging ... and then we'll be ready for
subsequent steps of improvements.
Thanks,

[platform-releng-dev] 4.4.0 I-Build: I20140401-0800 - respin likely this

In bug 431540 we've been trying to change a fairly complicated part of
the build, to accommodate changes made in Equinox feature relationships.
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=431540
I think there must have been a few key pieces I missed "synching up"
from my local test repo, into master, as things did work on my local test
machine, but in today's I-build, there is no "Equinox SDK" available
on the Equinox download page.
This is primarily a "packaging" problem ... and does not effect
the quality of the code, but I think it is important to get it working,
so that the packaging can get proper evaluation and confirmation. It is
an important change for a number of reasons, the most important one, from
my point of view, is it moves a little small piece of the "post build"
hackery into the Tycho/Maven part of the build where it belongs, and will
better allow committers and community to do a build "on their own"
that is a little closer to our production builds.
So, I'll be studying that, looking for mistakes other than the obvious
two I found, and anticipate that I'll be ready for a rebuild approximately
2 or 3 this afternoon (Eastern). Hopefully in the mean time, others can
be taking a look at the build and see if anything else needs to go into
a rebuild (if so, don't forget to announce here, just so we are all aware).
Do feel free to say, if any concerns.
Thanks,
