Re: [platform-help-dev] Overriding the behaviour of the "Synchronization" function

It looks like the answer is "No", it can't be done.
Synchronization is based on the URL of the topic being displayed, so the
help system cannot differentiate between the two locations in the TOC's.
In a future release, we are looking at supporting URL fragments
(/pluginid/topic.html#fragment), and, as a side-effect, fragments could
then be used to identify a topic under multiple TOCs.
The fragment won't have much use in the browser (if the fragment anchor
does not exist, the document will be shown anyway), but that part can be
used for indentification.
So, for the time being, I don't think you can get the functionality you
need.

Hello Dorian,

thank you for answering so quickly.

By "correct TOC entry" I intend the TOC entry from where you reached the
"current" HTML (this particular HTML document being previously referenced
in the TOC).

For example, say I have a "templates.html" file that appears both under a
"Concepts" TOC and under a "Tasks" TOC. I navigate to "templates.html"
from "Tasks". When I hit "Synchornize" I want to be taken to "Tasks" and
not "Concepts".

Can the Synchronize function be modified to achieve this?

Regards,

Eddie
