Re: [platform-help-dev] infocenter on WAS AE

Shikha,

You did the step 5 right.
Just to make sure, step 3 differs little more between AEs and AE. The
classpath needs to be filled in JVM Setting tab that can be found by
navigating and selecting WebSphere Administrative Domain -> Nodes ->
HOSTNAME -> Application Servers -> Default Server in the tree.

When you say the URL did not work, what did work (what has shown in the
browser)?
To check if WAS is working, can you browse WAS examples?

The problems with Infocenter are being written to D:
\WebSphere\AppServer\logs\Default_Server_stdout.log, and D:
\WebSphere\AppServer\temp\konradk\Default_Server\infocenter\org.eclipse.help.webapp_2.0.0.war\.metadata\.log.

Do these files contain any exceptions?

If you found and corrected any mistakes in the setup that were causing
eclipse to crash during startup, delete a file D:
\WebSphere\AppServer\temp\konradk\Default_Server\infocenter\org.eclipse.help.webapp_2.0.0.war\.metadata\.lock

before attempting to restart the Infocenter (bug:
http://dev.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=22324).

HI,
I tried installing infocenter on WAS AE.
i did steps 1,2 ,3, 4 as detailed at the eclipse site.
BUt step 5 seems to be little different in WAS AE from WAS AES.
for step 5
in the admin console i right clicked on Enterprise Application and selected
install Enterprise Applications,
and then selected the Stand alone module (*.jar, *.war) radio button .
Further proceeded with
Specifying the Path to select location of the downloaded WAR file
Edited the following two fields as follows:
Application Name : Eclipse Infocenter
Context Root : /help
clicked next, next, next, next, next, next, next, next(probably 8 or 9
times) and on the last screen specified the server as default server.
Restarted the WAS
and then went ahead and started the eclipse infiocenter which i found under
web modules under default server.

And tried for the following urls

             ://localhost/help/ or http://localhost:9080/help/.

             But neither worked,

Pls let me know where i went wrong,
ANy help would be highly appreciated,
             Thanks

Shikha,

Yes, just do the equivalent installation steps on your WAS Adv. Edition and
the infocenter should work.
In fact, we have changed the installation instructions (made them simpler
!) because of the workarounds Konrad tried to get it to work on the
Advanced Edition.

HI,
I have been working to implement our product's help through infocenter. And
the product i am working on works on WebSphere Application Server Advanced
Edition (WAS AE)
And i checked the eclipse.org site which provides steps for installing
infocenter on WebSphere Application Server 4.0.3 Advanced Edition Single
Server.
I had question that
DOes infocenter work also on WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition?
Also if it is tested and supported on WAS AE?

Thanks a lot,
Shikha
