I don't think you'll find anything formal. The closest to a requirements document is the official plan for each release.  Here is the 3.0 plan:

You could also do a search in bugzilla and browse through the 9000 feature requests, which give a fair representation of the user requirements <g>.

Sorry, definitely no UML or formal design. Maybe we should have taken pictures of all those scribbles on our white-boards... Most of the component team pages have design documents for individual features, available starting from here:
