Hi,

I read in the GTK bug that this issue is addressed by newer GTK4 APIs.

So instead of investing in workarounds to improve performance on GTK3, it would seem more profitable on the long run to invest in supporting the newer GTK4 APIs. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=568185 on that topic.
