Hi Max,

The paragraphs above and below the table
in the plan document explain this in detail. The reference platforms are
where we focus most of our efforts but it is not an exhaustive list. For
most platforms we usually only reference the most recent release of that
platform generally available at the time of our release. For example we
only list the most recent RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu LTS, etc. Windows has long
been the exception to this general rule. Because it was such a popular
platform for Eclipse, we kept Windows XP around long after it was superceded
by newer Windows versions.

At this time I know Kepler builds still
run on Windows XP, and there are one or two committers that still have
an XP machine available where they can investigate specific issues. It
is quite possible nothing will change in the Kepler stream to prevent Eclipse
running on Windows XP. Having said that, mainstream support for Windows
XP ended three years ago [1]. Bugs that occur only on Windows XP will be
considered low priority at this point.

I don't know enough about the differences
between OS X 10.7 and 10.8 to comment on that one specifically, but I expect
we run fine on 10.7. This is just our convention mentioned above that we
focus on the most recent release of a given OS.
Hi,

I'm looking at Eclipse Kepler plan [1] and just noticing that Windows XP
(afaics the second biggest OS by user-count) is crossed out and no mention
of OS X 10.7 (only OS X 10.8 even OS 10.7 has about as high usage as 10.8).

Are these just missing from here because of lack of access to testing on
this platform at eclipse.org or does it also mean issues related to these
specific platforms will not be considered ?

This is mainly concerning Windows XP which got some quirks compared to
Windows 7 and OS X 10.7 with respect to how JavaVM's and SWT Browser is
handled.

My assumption is that if we find issues and can help test it they can be
fixed; but I just wanted to make sure of the ramifications since this is
the first time
I've seen Eclipse drop support for such a widely used OS as Windows XP.
