Re: [photran] Photran Refactoring web site

I'd like to thank Mariano for creating this web site and to encourage
everybody who is interested in refactoring Fortran to look at it. In
particular, if you have an idea for a refactoring that is not on the
site, talk to Mariano about it.

Photran provides a platform for writing refactorings for Fortran.
Mariano is writing some. We've got some undergrads at Illinois this
summer who are writing some. Photran ought to have a lot more
refactorings by the end of summer. However, we need feedback from
Fortran programmers. Are we missing some refactorings that you would
find useful? Are their bugs in the ones we've implemented so far?
Are they hard to use?

I'd love for those of you who have an idea about a refactoring to
champion it. Write up what you think it should do. Provide some
examples. Help us test it when we finish it. You don't need to be a
Java programmer to help develop Photran! Specifying and testing are
just as important as programming.
