RE: [phoenix-epic-dev] Re: Development Digest November 28th

1 - Nathan now has the text and it should be put up soon.  We have literally spent hours choosing the term "Featured Member Plugin"(s) and then agreed to explain what that means in a linked description - I would like to keep that for now and lets revisit after trying it out for a while.

3 - Yes, good catch.  I did turn this off, but it seemed to turn itself back on...  It is now off again.  The jobs listed are from Indeed's sources.  We do have the option, at some point, to let people post jobs directly (and only) on eclipseplugincentral.com and charge a fee for doing so.  I'm not sure that makes sense and hence why I had it turned off to start.  We can set the fee from as little as $20.01 to $1,000 per post.  I thought it would be good to see what the volume of people hitting the page is like first.

1.  To the uninformed visitor, I can see the difference in how certain plugins are listed, but I would have no idea or context to know why.  I can see the added visibility for member plugins.  So that is a plus.  But we need to provide a clear message that says "This plugin is provided by an Eclipse Member Company" or something like that.

>>>> I agree we need to define this.   Donald, I seem to recall you volunteering to write this text?  Can you still do it or do you want me to do it.

2.  I assume we will check to make sure plugin submissions match the foundation's list of member companies.

>>> Yes

3.  Are we really going to start charging $150 per job post??

>>>> Good catch?  Not sure what this is about?  Donald and Nathan can you chime in here?   This seems very odd.

Subject: Development Digest November 28th

Good Morning,

It’s been a busy 2 weeks since the last update and I have quite a lot to cover.

Member Visibility - https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=165321

I've tweaked some things in regards to Featured Member Plugins.

- When viewing a category page the featured member plugins are broken out into there own subsection.

- Also in any shorter listing of plugins, such as top rated / most active / new and updated the member company is now bolded.

- During Plugin submission users now have the ability to choose member company or not.

- (Incomplete) Links to describe what a Feature Member Company is

Example URLs

- http://sandbox.eclipseplugincentral.net/index.html (bolded links in the list items)

- http://sandbox.eclipseplugincentral.net/Web_Links-index-req-viewcatlink-cid-3.html (breakout of featured member plugins)

Expanding the Most Active + Top Rated Lists- https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=165317

I’ve done a lot of work on making the Most Active and Top Rated Lists

- Increased Number of plugins in each list to 15

- Added Tabs to the sections to allow users to see different slices of data based on intervals.

- Pages no longer reload when changing tabs in these lists due to some sweet _javascript_ magic.

Example URLs

- http://sandbox.eclipseplugincentral.net/index.html (Tabbed Lists with 15 items)

Jobs Tab - http://sandbox.eclipseplugincentral.net/jobs.php

Added the Jobs tab to the website as previously discussed on the mailing list.

If you have any comments regarding these changes please place your comments in the bugs associated.
