ACM Queue publishes a developer tool catalog on the web site
and once a year as a supplement. They would like to develop an Eclipse
catalog to complement their .Net catalog. Last year they were not overly
successful in attracting Eclipse organizations to add their products to their
catalog. My impression is that most Eclipse organizations were just tired of submitting
content to different catalogs.
I meet with the people from Queue last week at Eclipse
World. I suggested to them that they might consider taking the content of EPIC
and re-hosting it as the content for their Eclipse catalog. They seemed very
open to doing that. It would essentially allow them to have a robust Eclipse
catalog, provide more exposure to the plug-ins listed in EPIC and make it
easier for member companies to only have to update one repository. In fact, I
would hope this would encourage more member companies to submit their listings.
Are people okay with going forward with this approach? I
believe it is a win-win for everyone and it is a good step forward in being a
central repository for Eclipse specific info. If I don’t hear any
disagreement, I will put things in motion with Queue.
Thanks
