Phoenix Team,
I'd like to bring two items to your attention:
1. Watching Bugzilla
=================
A number of committers seem to be missing from the Bugzilla Phoenix
watch list, meaning you
are not getting bugzilla e-mails to inform you of new or updated bugs.
To receive these e-mails,
please log into Bugzilla and click Prefs, E-mail settings, and add this
to the "Users To Watch": phoenix.ui-inbox@xxxxxxxxxxx,
phoenix.templates-inbox@xxxxxxxxxxx
The following committers *do* receive these notices, and have no action
to take:
bjorn.freeman-benson@xxxxxxxxxxx,
wayne@xxxxxxxxxxx, susan_iwai@xxxxxxxxxx, webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx,
gunnar@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, ian.skerrett@xxxxxxxxxxx,
nathan.gervais@xxxxxxxxxxx,
mike.milinkovich@xxxxxxxxxxx
2. Broken Links
=============
Our site is plagued with too many broken links, and we need to fix
this. Please see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=162736
There is a small extension that you can add to Firefox that will allow
you to check the links on any page. Please install this extension and
begin cleaning your broken links. Also, it is our job to check other
www.eclipse.org pages as we casually browse them, and open bugs against
the projects so that they too can clean their broken links.
As it stands, in February so far, 1,650,396 of these errors have been
sent out to the Internet from www.eclipse.org alone. At 1.4 KB per
error, that works out to 2.2 Gigabytes with even the most modest of
error pages (http://www.eclipse.org/sakjaskjas) -- and the month isn't
even past the halfway mark!
Should we Phoenixize the 404 page (which we should), the page size
would instantly jump to well over 25KB.
As we gear up for many, many website hits from EclipseCON and Europa,
we need to minimize the waste. Please help me make this nonsense stop.
Thanks,
Denis
