Are you looking for feedback here? These ideas look nice and clean but they have one big problem: they're too wide. One of the examples had 4 columns. Ideally the site should be readable on a 1024x768 monitor (like one of those 15" lcds you can get cheap now for PCs and Macs), allowing for some browser and desktop controls, without sideways scrolling. It should also respect the font size set by the browser (for example IE's Ctrl-MouseWheel).
