I've triaged this to Neon M7.

Vikas,

Last year, when I initially discovered the extremely long time to startup Mars with a target platform composed of p2 update sites, you asked me to create a defect. I did do that and the fix was targeted for 4.6 (Neon). Unfortunately, it is still taking at least 1:15 for me to load on startup using Neon. I've attached the bug that I opened below:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=482158

Did a fix for this issue make it into Neon?

In that case, can you please open a defect with steps to replicate the problem.?

There were few issues in that area but I think all 4.5 and 4.6 versions post 15th July,2015 has those problems
fixed. What is the build id for the eclipse where you see the problem?

I just upgraded my version of Eclipse to 4.5.1. I have a target platform that uses p2 update sites exclusively and if I make it active, it takes 1 min 20 seconds for the instance of Eclipse to startup. If I use the running platform instead, it takes all of 10 seconds.

I found a bug report (
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=446845) which seems to suggest that the issue crept in between 4.5M1 and 4.5M2, but apparently has been fixed in the latest version of Mars. In light of my unsuccessful attempt, what specific version of Mars eliminates this issue if I use a target platform with p2 update sites?
