Thanks for the advanced notice.  After my initial reaction of "great", my second thought was "I wonder if this effects b3 aggregation at all?".

There are some views in b3 where it makes assumptions about the "Eclipse nature" of the p2 UI and divides things up in tree elements (features, plugins etc.). Depending on what Pascal plans that the editors will produce, there might be a need to make some adjustments there. It only concerns how data is viewed though. I would be surprised if the actual aggregation functionality broke.

I am thinking "not", since a) sounds like, just going by the titles, there is really no change to "metadata" ... just making it easier to get the metadata into the repository (instead of writing custom code or scripts) and b) b3 aggregator creates its own categories anyway, and since c) as far as I know it simply copies "product" metadata as-is but wouldn't hurt to do some early testing (so, again, thanks for advance notice).

One clarification, should bug Bug 426529 be marked with '[Product]' as well? Start level just applies to products, right?

Cross-posting to b3-dev list just for wider awareness.

Thanks again,

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that over the next couple months Rapicorp
will be providing improvements to PDE. Theses improvements, mostly done
for Polarsys members Ericsson, Airbus and Thales, will be focused on
adding more capabilities to the product and the category editors.

Here is the complete set of bugs:
Bug 426524 - [Product][Editors] Add support for p2 repo
Bug 426525 - [Product][Editors] Allow for system properties to be
specified for an OS / Arch combination
Bug 426527 - [Product][Editors] Allow for VM args to be specified for an
OS / Arch combination
Bug 426528 - [Product][Editors] Specify the name and location of the CSS
file to use
Bug 426529 - Allow for default start level to easily be loaded
Bug 426530 - [Product][Editors] Allow to populate default preferences
from an existing
Bug 426531 - [category] Specify repository references in category.xml
Bug 426532 - [category] Specify download stats URL and type of artifacts
to monitor in category.xml

We expect the first 3 bugs to be done for the Luna release, and expect
all the work to be complete by June.

Regards,

Pascal
