Re: [pde-dev] Vote for Committer status for Simon Archer has started

Wassim, it makes it easier for plug-in developers to develop UIs.

I think it fits well with the Platform incubator or the PDE incubator. It's only in the PDE incubator because I took the initiative to make it happen.

It has already received praise from the community as something they want so we should just leave it where it is now. In the end, we do tooling but our business is people :)

Cheers,

As cool as the Picasso effort is, I am not convinced it belongs in the PDE incubator.

It helps people understand layouts and composites, but it does not further the plug-in/bundle development mission per se in any way.

It therefore seems more logical for it to be taking place in the Platform incubator.

Before casting my vote, can someone please give me a compelling argument on why PDE should take on this mission in its incubaor?

Thanks,
Wassim

This automatically generated message signals that Chris Aniszczyk has
nominated Simon Archer as a Committer on the component of the
eclipse.incubator project. The reason given is as follows:

I am nominating Simon Archer to get commit rights on the Picasso
    (
http://wiki.eclipse.org/PDE/Incubator/Picasso) work area within the PDE
incubator. A lot of the initial code came from Simon and he should have the
honor to maintain the code in the PDE incubator as it shapes up over time.

The vote is being held via the MyFoundation portal: voters *must* use the
portal for the votes to be properly recorded. The voting will continue
until either all 16 existing Committers have voted or until they have been
given enough time to vote, even if they do not do so (defined as at least
one week). Simon Archer must receive at least three +1s and no -1s for a
    successful election.

Eligible Committers must cast their votes through their My Foundation
portal page (do NOT just reply to this email; your vote will not be
correctly recorded unless you use the portal):
