Re: [paho-dev] Publishing paho to maven central

Hi Ilie,

Because we won't be deploying snapshots to maven central and there is still some time until a new Paho release, the plan is to run a one off build of the Java master branch that will deploy to OSSRH to allow you to get access to the current release on maven central. Unfortunately the nexus-staging-maven-plugin that deploys the package to OSSRH is causing the build to run out of memory. I'm in contact with the Community Hudson team to see if we can get this working soon. We also need to establish how to log into OSSRH to deploy the release to maven central.

Kind regards,

I apologize again if my email came out as imperative, that was definitely not my intention.

I am aware that the quickest way for getting this done is to contribute, unfortunately I am not familiar with Maven. I did take a look at the build log James posted, but I wasn’t able to figure anything out. I’ll try to find someone in our organization with Maven experience.

Thank you,

Ilie.

Ilie, in the last email James said he was looking for help with Maven. My guess is that he might not have found the help he needed?

This is open source, so you can insist, but the best way to get things done is trying to contribute. If you know anyone with Maven experience who can help James that might be the quickest path forward.

Regards
Ian

James,

Apologies for insisting, but I’m getting pressured as we’re approaching release. Would it be possible to get some ETA on this? I checked the ticket history and nothing seems to have happened since your last email.

Thank you,

Ilie.

Hi,

Just a quick update on publishing the Paho Java client to Maven central:

The Eclipse Hudson team have added the necessary credentials / settings into our Hudson instance and We've got a test build created that is a clone of the paho-java-dev-nightly build (https://hudson.eclipse.org/paho/job/paho-java-maven-test/) I've gone in and made some additions to the POM file as well.

We've been copying Californium for the most part as they themselves are doing something very similar to what we would like to do. They're publishing artifcats to both repo.eclipse.org and OSSRH (Maven central) in their builds.

Unfortunately I'm a bit stuck at the moment as although the build hasn't broken and still uploads to repo.eclipse.org, it's not uploading to OSSRH. (Example build log here: https://hudson.eclipse.org/paho/user/james.sutton@xxxxxxxxxx/my-views/view/My%20Builds/job/paho-java-maven-test/11/console)

If anyone has come Maven experience or some good ideas, it would be much appreciated! I've also dropped a note on the Californium dev wall asking if there is anything obvious that I may have missed.

Thanks,

James
