If I can chip in a further two cents, I have a further usecase for reporting the sources used to the user, but at resolution & load time.
I was unable to install the Marketplace Client into Helios immediately after its release due to an unsatisfied constraint [1]. It worked fine a couple of days later, though there were no changes to the repositories. The most plausible explanation is that my runtime contacted an incomplete mirror. But we have no way to know which mirror. Reporting the sources contacted would have been useful to verify that the mirror is now fully synced up.
