I can't reproduce 296395.
However trying to reproduce it I came across https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=299424 which I think will need some love for the release.

Hi, everyone. I had to drop off the p2 call as the merge logistics were being discussed.

I thought it would be useful to make a list of the p2 UI bugs that need to be fixed as part of the merge (ie, preferably before we merge or at least very soon after). These are regressions from the pre-branch state of the world. I'm working on these right now (in the order shown). 
If anyone has cycles to add comments (specific scenarios, etc.) it would be helpful. I've annotated below where that could help.

1. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=298806 - [ui] Search does not work in API Branch
2. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=276884 - [ui] Newly created update site doesn't show up in the "Work with" list 
I tested and verified this bug early on and it has regressed without significant change in the UI. It is likely related to bug #1 and the eventing. I suspect fixing #1 will address #2.

3. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=297416 - [ui] drilldown missing on install software page
Have not investigated yet, not too scary.

4. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=296395 - [ui] IU without dependency shows dependencies in the installed software page
Was unable to reproduce but haven't tried lately.
