RE: [p2-dev] Categories

thanks, Doug. If possible, can you attach the sample repo, it'll make tracking it down that much faster.
Also, please indicate in the bug if this is on the critical path for 3.5. If so, I'll look into it during RC1.

Thanks, Susan. It didn't work. I'll add myself to the bug.

Doug.

Re: nested categories.
See

It used to work, but we don't have a regression test for it, so it's possible I broke it during 3.5.
You could try it and report back in that bug. It might "just work."

Answers in reverse order:
Doug,

We have no mechanism for authoring hierarchical categories, and I don't think the UI currently supports displaying hierarchical categories (Susan can correct me if I'm wrong there). The metadata supports this, and we will hopefully improve our tooling around categories in 3.6.

cheers,
ian

I don't have an answer to that, but I have another question about hierarchies.

Is it possible to have hierarchical categories? Well I know how to define the metadata for that, but how can I, if possible, get the UI to show hierarchical categories. In my example, I'd like to have Wascana as a category, then break out Tools from Libraries as a second level.

      Thanks,
      Doug.

      [p2-dev] Categories

Can someone clarify the category behavior of a site. I was expecting the category to work differently. For instance if I have a category "apples". I would expect that I could pull in "Red Delicious IU" from one site and "Jonathan IU" from another site. But what happens one is site is arbitrarily chosen to represent a category and the remaining IUs from other sites are masked.
