Yes, I've seen that and I think it's a great way of controlling
categories when you have more complexity. The stuff I rambled about on
the call is intended as a more compact way of defining a site (using
one project). I think it will be short lived and replaced in favor of
the coming categories.xml that was mentioned.

What this really means, is that with
today's publisher, any feature can be used to generate a category
be adding a p2.inf file with the following:
