Thanks Ian. Was this based on M4?  Either people need ot look at it now or know what to load in their workspace to apply the patch and take a look at the nature of the changes.

The tests pass, although problems are not likely to arise until we have some other service implementations (and I will provide other patches if there turns out to be some problems).

Let me know when a good time to apply the patch is, as I will try and keep the patch up-to-date and upload a new version if needed.
