fyi, there is a new p2 bundle, org.eclipse.equinox.p2.ui.sdk.scheduler

introduced as part of these bugs:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=221760

You shouldn't need to load it in your workspace, but if you don't, and you launch a self-hosted workbench, then that workbench won't have any automated update capability.
