Hi Barbara,
I want to join your meeting on skype, i have a skype username which
is yahya.ozturk. So i think i have some ideas for your agenda
because my professional is test and configuration management :)
I have great experience about configuration management and testing
on .NET platform and J2EE. For example my last task is set up
configuration management system for java based project and ı used
IDE : Eclipse
Source Control : Team Foundation Server (it includes task, test and
bug management based on workitem approach)
Plug-in for TFS using in Eclipse : Teamprise
Build Tool : Ant
Continuous Integrtion Tool : Cruise Control
According to me, we can use open-source tools for configuration
management and testing.
In additional, you used web service in your framework we can test WS
easily open-source test tool (performance and functional testing).
My locaition is GMT + 2 so meeting is 21:00 pm in my local time.
yahya

Hi Yahya.
First of all, a big welcome to ORMF! I am really happy that you are
thinking of joining us.
Secondly, I would like ot let you know that tomorrow (Sunday) we
have a Skype conference call that act as a team meeting. It is at
7:00 pm GMT. I realise this is a rather late hour for you, and one
of the subjects of the meeting would be precisely to discuss these
time zone related problems. (This is the first meeting, so it is not
by any means an established process for us). However I thought I
would let you know just in case. Here is a list of topics that we
would like to bring to the table:
1) How to utilise Bugzilla for issues/work tasks
2) How to track ongoing tasks such as testing or configuration
management (and whether or not it is needed)
3) Configuration management: how things are with Buckminster
4) Testing: any initial comments (you can find my overall "turn
over" document in the dev list thread titled "Guide to testing
document" if you want to take a look)
5) Organisation of the ORMF repository (you can find a brief
description of this in the dev list thread titled "Guide to ORMF
repository structure" if you want to take a look)
6) Future team meetings: how and when
We fully understand if you do not/cannot participate. Hopefully we
will find a solution that works for all of us. If however you do
decide to participate, I will need your Skype user name. At the
appointed time I will send out a chat to all group members; if you
want to participate, you will need to reply to this chat and then I
will add you to the conference call.
Cheerio,
B.

Hi again,
I have looked over your resume and it appears you have very good
experience that I am sure will come in very useful on ORMF. I did
not see any Eclipse specific experience. Do you have any beyond
using the IDE? It is not a problem if you do not as I am sure you
will learn, the question is to get me oriented.
I am not sure how much you know about the project yet. There is a
lot of information on the Etish website<http://www.etish.org/>, the
Useme website<https://useme.dev.java.net/> and the Eclipse
Foundation ORMF project website<http://www.eclipse.org/ormf/>.
Please spend some time going through the Useme and ORMF specific
resources on these sites. There is a tremendous amount of background
that you can gain though this.
I am not sure whether or not you are aware that we are now an
official Eclipse Foundation project. We consider this a truly great
honour to be among such highly esteemed projects and to be able to
participate fully in the Eclipse committer community.
There are procedures to be followed before a new team member can
become a Eclipse committer. Essentially this involves participating
at the level of contributor for a time period. When the team is
comfortable with the work that you are contributing someone on the
team nominates you to become a committer and there is a vote among
the team to accept you. It is all really very pleasant and cordial,
but the process does help make sure that new people are clear about
what they committing to when the become full team members. Of course
if you preferred you could simply continue as a contributor
infinitum if you did not want to take on more responsibilities. Take
a look here<http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Development_Resources>
and here<http://www.eclipse.org/legal/committerguidelines.php> for
more information.
There is an ormf-dev mailling list that you should probably get
yourself signed up to. Please see this page<https://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/ormf-dev
> for details on subscribing and to read the archives.
Btw, the first hurdle to joining the project is to have the stamina
to wade through and absorb the huge amount of background
information :-) Believe me it is a test of your will!
Cheers,
Joel
