Re: [orion-dev] orion.eclipse.org server will be offline Mon Nov 11 2:00PM EST

Hi Adrian, glad the upgrade experience went well. You can delete that org.eclipse.orion.server.core.search folder any time the server is not running. If it is missing on startup the index gets rebuilt. So if you forgot, simply shutdown, delete index, restart. The index should actually repair itself anyway if you forget to do that step. It's just more efficient to delete it entirely, because the files get moved during migration all index entries will need to be purged and regenerated anyway.

Hello Anthony, hello John,

I just migrated my local orion server running master of client and server.

Here is the only error I get. I assume I can ignore that one:

adrian@tanga:~/eclipse-orion-ws/.metadata$ grep -i error migration.log
ERROR: Did not migrate user: no entry in secure storage for userId: anonymous
adrian@tanga:~/eclipse-orion-ws/.metadata$

I forgot, however, to
> Delete the old index folder /serverworkspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.orion.server.core.search

What should I do about that?

Nice upgrade experience so far, all my projects[1] still seems to be there.

Adrian

[1] I created them before the new orion Project feature was available, either by git clone, git init, or add Folder.

The server metadata migration is complete. There is a bug with the migration of site paths. Rather than waiting to fix that and migrating again, we'll push ahead to make sure we get full testing on the new metadata format. You will need to delete and recreate your sites.

Hi Team,

In two hours at Mon Nov 11 2:00PM EST, the server will be taken down, a backup of the serverworkspace done, and then migration to the new simple metadata format will be done.

We will email when the
orion.eclipse.org is up and running again.

Cheers...
Anthony
