Re: [orion-dev] Supported Target Platforms

Hi Mike and John,

thanks for your replies! Then, is Orion based on a full Eclipse runtime on server side (e.g. capable of plugging in resources plug-in and the JDT core plug-ins), was it somehow built from a clean base or is it actually implemented in node.js?

Hi Martin,

Most of Orion is generic tool infrastructure that could be used to build tools for any language. As for specific tools, we are currently still focused on _javascript_ (both in browser and node.js), HTML, and CSS. There are no current plans to expand that, but if anyone in the community is working on tools for other languages, many of the current committers will happily offer guidance, and work together on improving the core infrastructure to support other kinds of tooling requirements. I don't know of anyone working on Java support yet, but you're certainly not the first person to ask for that!

John

Dear Orion Community,

I'm following the project for a while now. Just to know, are there any
plans to support the development for other target platforms than Web,
e.g. Java?

Best regards,

Martin
