Re: [orion-dev] favorites?

I never got on with favorites in Orion and never used them - but I'm one of those people who doesn't manage my browser favorites either. (In a browser I just start typing and expect the URL to appear because I've been there before). Scripted uses a history/recently-accessed mechanic that I do use, but that's because I don't have to do anything (I don't have to remember to tag/favourite that file which, oops, I just navigated away from...) - like favorites these entries appear at the top of dialogs like 'open file/resource'.

cheers,
Andy

I'm not convinced GA would tell me the information I'm looking for anyway. I guess I could get aggregate data about whether or not favorites are being created (and maybe even when they are followed), but this doesn't tell me *why* they are being used.

I'm looking for answers like
- "I make a favorite for every directory I am currently working on" -- favorite as Project context
- "I make a favorite for the dojo source directory" -- favorite as library context
- etc.

We only have it on the main page.  As a web app that is trying to reduce round trips to servers and caching as much as possible I'm a bit reluctant to 'track' it all.

Perhaps it's something we could enable for a milestone with the main landing page indicating so.

Has the Orion team considered adding Google Analytics to OrionHub?  It might be a useful way of collecting data on how people use Orion.

Hey Orionoclasts,

Day to day, when you run Orion, do you use favorites? If so, what do you use them for? What does your workflow look like?

I'm trying to figure out how much value they are providing, as well as how we could improve them.

thanks,
McQ.
