Re: [orion-dev] Hello

Hello,

I'm running the Orion server, and want to enable the email user validation that's baked into the code.  Tracing through I see that it checks and "mail.from" Eclipse preference.

Does anyone know how to enable that preference when launching the server?  It's not in the server admin guide and a -Dmail.from=xxx@xxxxxxx VM parameter doesn't work.

Thanks,
Brad Childs

Hey Chris, really glad to have you hook up with Orion. As a reminder, anyone is welcome on our weekly status calls ( http://wiki.eclipse.org/Orion/Meeting_minutes ) and we value feedback on the components of Orion and/or the User Experience. Hopefully we'll hear you on the call, on bugzilla or on the list here.

Cheers,
Ken Walker

My name is Chris Whitty and I wanted to introduce myself as I am about to start a project based on the Orion framework. I work for a company named Micro Focus, making developer tooling for older languages & technologies (for example, COBOL plugins for Eclipse & Visual Studio).

This summer, we are starting a new internship program where we have five first/second year University students come in and work on their own project for ten weeks, the plan for this year is to investigate how we can use Orion to put some of our tooling online, either as a way of demonstrating some of our technologies or as a new environment to develop in.

I attended the Extending Orion tutorial at EclipseCon which was a great introduction to the basics and was hoping I would be able to show those same slides and exercises to the interns to get them started but I couldn't find them anywhere, is there any way that they could be made available?

Anyway, I mainly wanted to say hi, and let you all know what we were up to and how we are looking forward to using Orion.

Pleased to meet you,
Chris Whitty.
