Re: [orion-dev] trusted plugins

Hi Andrew,

Probably the closest bug is https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=374575 which deals with the idea of creating a shell service. To be honest I don't think that really covers the security aspects we talked about well so I'll open a couple better targeted bugs and add you to the CC. A couple things have to happen first -- we first need to get the host page to plugin security stuff in place as well as plugin API changes to make the service APIs for plugin and host page symmetric. As far as timing goes I'd like to have API in place but am not certain this is something we turn on in 0.5 except possibly in a very limited form -- perhaps as you suggest only same domain.

[orion-dev] trusted plugins

Hi all,

Not too long ago, Simon and I had been discussing the possibility of
having trusted plugins. My understanding is that these are plugins
installed in the same domain as the orion server install and have more
privileges than regular plugins. Has there been any more movement on
this? Are there any open bugzillas?

thanks,
Andrew
