Here are some mockups/screenshot cut&pastes that show some ideas for dealing with multiple file clients and streamlining switching of page resources, navigation, etc. I've used git and branch management as the specific case, with the goal being to reduce the number of clicks/page visits to get to different places.

Navigator has a space to deal with provider-specific views on folders. Git repos, webdav, etc.
