[orbit-dev] Notice on some (late) removals of org.objectweb.asm from Orbit active builds

I wanted to announce our plans in Orbit to remove some versions of org.objectweb.asm from active builds:  1 new, 3 old.

The "new one" is 5.0.0. It was not even in a "milestone" build, so doubt anyone has any hard dependency on it, but a) that was "Beta code" until Java 8 was released, then we picked up final released version with had a few bug fixes in it over the beta version, but then b) Michael Rennie and others found a blocking defect with that released version, which was promptly fixed, and a version 5.0.1 released. Hence, we'd like to have only 5.0.1 in Orbit repo, and will remove any of the 5.0.0 versions.

As for the old ones, normally we try remove "old stuff" by M5, but ... we slipped up and let that deadline pass without thinking about it. And for this bundle, it's kind of ridiculous: We currently have, in active builds and the latest R-build repo, versions 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 4.0, and now, soon 5.0.1. So, I plan to remove 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2. Again, only from "active" builds, for Luna. Nothing changes in R-repositories.

If this has any unanticipated impact on anyone, feel free to comment in bug 431185 [1] and we'll be happy to add back what you need.

This will happen in the next promoted I-build (hopefully later today).

Thanks,
