[orbit-dev] Reminder about the "next release"

Now that we have a "release" (R-build) for Orbit to be used for Kepler, I wanted to remind everyone of our policy and conventions on future releases.

We don't have them. :) That is, we don't plan on another, until Luna releases.

More specifically, this means, if you want/need a release before then, you need to speak up! We do have target milestones for Kepler SR1 and SR2, but a note to this list that you need a "maintenance release" would be most helpful.

Also, we are not constrained to only SR1 and SR2 ... we can arrange to do an "off-cycle" release, but we need at least a month's notice, preferably two. This is important not only because it helps me plan the releng work needed, but also we want to be sure the community knows about it, has time to review any new bundles or changes to old bundles that might impact them.

Also coming up this next year, we'll be moving to Git (one way or another) and changing the build process (one way or another). All "yet to be determined", but ... but I've committed to come up with a plan by the end of August, and then, after that, we'll see .... depending on what that plan is .... we'll begin implementation.  Please follow/comment on bug 349048 [1] if interested.

Thanks,
