Re: [orbit-dev] Batik 1.7 in Orbit

Anthony,

I'm also interested in the Batik PDF transcoder for the Mylyn WikiText project.  I've noticed that previously Batik only included classes from the FOP jar included with the Batik distribution.  Some key FOP classes were missing (eg: FopFactory).  What would it take to get the FOP classes included from the FOP distro instead?  This would help to avoid the split-package issue and would also make it easy for FOP consumers to avoid having to file separate CQs and avoid having to maintain separate Orbit bundles.

Hi Team,

I have been working with Christian for several months on Batik 1.7 and getting it into Orbit so GMF can take advantage of it. This is Orbit https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=189139 and GMF https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=240988 . GMF also requires Batik 1.7 PDF transcoder https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=258349 and this work is not there yet. I have a call with Joel tomorrow about the PDF Transcoder but have a few additional questions.

The Batik 1.7 projects are flagged as red in the report Dave sent out earlier today. I am not sure I understand what that means since we resolved bug 189139 in Orbit.

Did we intend to put both Batik 1.6 and Batik 1.7 in Orbit at the same time or did we expect everyone to move to Batik 1.7?

Given that Batik 1.7 actually has a couple of breaking API changes and since we are past M6, I am inclined to postpone putting Batik 1.7 into Galileo and put this into the M1 of the next release.

Since I am the one who filled in the 18 CQ to get Batik 1.7 into Orbit, can we do this? I am not aware of anyone else who asked for Batik 1.7 except e4, and they said they would adopt when it was there.

Cheers...
Anthony
