[orbit-dev] Re: Bugfixing 3rd party code due to lack of a release?

Martin,
Attaching the patch to a bug is good because it automatically licenses it under the EPL (check the website terms of use). However, in this case I still want Janet to weigh in about the situation.

Hi Bjorn,

thanks for your quick answer!
I had expected something like that.

What do you think, if I ask him to submit the same patch onto Eclipse Bugzilla under the EPL? - As the original author, he should be free to license his patch under both APL 2.0 and the
EPL, shouldn't he?

And the APL 2.0 should allow modifying the code as we like,
shouldn't it?

Cheers,

Martin,
I'll let Janet provide the more complete answer but:
* What about IP cleanliness? The patches are 11 and 16 lines of code respectively, plain bugfix only, and I am in contact with the original author / submitter. Can we let this into Eclipse CVS?

Only if you submit a CQ and it is reviewed and approved by Eclipse Legal. It's a non-Committer author, so it must be reviewed.
