Russ, did you get any more info about the
open source HL7 V2 library? Is it HAPI?
A few other thoughts were lingering in the back of my mind about this this
evening. One point I ought to mention is that the (non-porprietary) model
we used for HL7 v2 message pieces was generated by EMF using the HL7 v2
schemas. EMF provides the XMLResources to produce XML given an .ecore
model. This may be a way to go ... and then just provide a
"Message"Resources that would generate messages (or fragments thereof)?

Sarah, I don't like ecore much. Randy Griffen told me to just accept it,
and it's idiosyncrasies, but I'm having real trouble doing that. But
we can talk about what the requirements are when I come visit
(other committers - I am dropping into Almaden to visit IBM on the
Friday after Eclipse Con to talk about v2 & the IHE profiles)
