Re: [mylyn-reviews-dev] R4E and subversive

Hi Jean,

The web page you refer is for a review tool under Mylyn called TBR (Task Based Reviews ) develop by a group at the University of Vienna. R4E is another tool within the Mylyn review tool. Mylyn reviews also have another tool called Gerrit connector. When you look at Mylyn Review tools, it refers to one of those three  (http://www.eclipse.org/reviews/). The intention is to share a common review model, but each tool has its own particularity.  The only one of those three tools supporting Subversive is TBR (Task Based Reviews).

If you are looking to add a connector in R4E to support Subversive, it should not be too hard. Our focus has changed and we are currently working to improve the Gerrit connector by adding a Gerrit-Dashboard. As the name says, it is designed to support GIT version control system, not Subversive.

Best Regards,

Jacques

I found this page : http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/mylyn-reviews/

There, the subversive plugin is mentionned as planned, I take it from your mail it has changed or could it be that someone else decided to do it and you are not yet aware of it ?

Hi, is there some source of information susceptible to help me with implementing a new connector.

If I did it, would it be possible to add it to the standard connectors and maintained by the team.

In your opinion, would it be some tough piece of work for a seasoned java programmer who did not recently worked on plugin development (for the past 4-5 years) ?

Hi Jean,

I agree with you that not being able to detect new item feature is limiting the functionality of R4E. R4E was develop to be able to support multiple SCM.  We started it by using GIT and Subclipse. Nothing prevent from adding new SCM like Subversive. The contributions are welcome, but in short term, we have no plan to add Subversion as a supported SCM within R4E.

Subject: [mylyn-reviews-dev] R4E and subversive

Hi, I am using subversive as SVN team provider, not subclipse within Kepler.

I had some issues with subclipse not being fully supported by other features I am using in my eclipse setup, so I switched to subversive.

It seems to me, however, that R4E does not recognizes subversive as a valid scm connector. Since Subversive is the official svn provider, how come that subclipse is the default scm connector for R4E.

I would really like to use R4E as it seems to me it brings a lot of interesting feature, however not being able to use the detect new review items feature is very limiting.

Is there a solution I failed to see ?

Is there a planned solution ?
Is there a workaround ?

Thx in advance
