Although I also work with m2eclipse Benny is probably right that a lot of other folk @ eclipse is used to have them checked in.

I am not sure I like the idea ;-) but could we consider this "assume unchanged" flag that git provides?

Not sure if I understood completely what it does, but as far as I know it should do what we want.
