[mylyn-reviews-dev] introduction / goals for the Gerrit Connector
Hi,
 
as I'm nominated as committer for the mylyn.reviews project I would like to
introduce myself and share my goals regarding this project with you.
 
I'm working in SAP in a development team that works on EGit, JGit and Gerrit.
Regarding Gerrit we are involved in the Gerrit Server development but we would
also like to take part in the Gerrit Mylyn Connector.
 
Personally I'm currently working on the Gerrit Server, if you're interested you
can see my contributions in the Android Gerrit Server [1].
 
Regarding the Gerrit Connector as a first step we are interested in providing
an easy way for users to download changes from Gerrit, so that users can
locally try out patch-sets and compare them. Also I think that users would like
to get Mylyn notifications for changes in Gerrit.
In the long run it would be cool to enable users to do offline code reviews
(this should get possible when Gerrit starts to store the review data in Git
Notes rather than in the central database). I expect that doing the code review
in Eclipse can also bring other benefits for the users (e.g. a user can then
use the Eclipse tooling to navigate through the code while doing code review
or to use the Mylyn context to limit the view on the resources that are
relevant for the change in Gerrit).
