I have uploaded a change to support the asciidoc syntax for style modifiers on word boundaries.
e.g.:

thi**s will show bo**ld

thi*s will not show bo*ld

could someone have a look and see if it is acceptable/desirable?

(the Hudson build has failed, seemingly because I'm not authorized :))
