[mylyn-docs-dev] removal of commit from org.eclipse.mylyn.docs repository

Hi,

the org.eclipse.mylyn.docs repository was the first Mylyn repository
to be converted from CVS to Git and was our guinea pig. While I was
figuring how to work with the conversion tools I made a mistake which
caused the initial commit to have a date of January 1, 1990.

While this hasn't cause any harm in day to day development the bogus
commit causes confusion and problems when commit data analyzed, e.g.
https://www.ohloh.net/p/mylyn . To fix this now and forever I would
like to remove the commit from the repository.

Since Git commit hashes are based on parent commits this would cause
the *entire history* of the repository to be *rewritten*. Nothing
would change content wise but all commit hashes would change and
developers would need to rebase any unmerged branches.

I would like to proceed with this change before the Mylyn 3.7 release.
Let's say end of next week after we have merged all outstanding
changes for 3.7.

If you have any thoughts, concerns, objections, please let us know.
The corresponding task is here:

333620: remove initial commit from org.eclipse.mylyn.docs repository
