Re: [mylyn-dev] New connector contribution (YouTrack)

Hi community,

thanks Steffen and Sam for answering. I have several last questions about technical details:

1) as I understand, I may use Skype for voice and GoToMeeting for screen sharing. What number should be used for SIP connection? Should I just call 708@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or it should be in a more complicated way?

2) Also YouTrack supporter Andrey will join the meeting for answering unusual questions during meeting if they are. He led me to another question: free Skype version does not have group call option, is it normal for connection what we should establish? I think it's important detail since we will participate from different places.

3) Is it right that Citrix GoToMeeting from this link connects me directly to meeting and all meeting's members will see same
screen?

You can also try a direct SIP connection or the toll free UK number via Skype. That has worked reasonable well for me in the past.

Hi,

It would be great to see a presentation at the next meeting, and that sounds like a great workflow. Please add an item to the agenda at https://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Mylyn/Meetings#February_12.2C_8-9am_PT if you want to present.

Unfortunately the Eclipse.org conference system does not seem to have a number for Russia, so you may need to call long distance. We'll use GoToMeeting for screen sharing - if you click the link on the meeting page it should automatically install  the client and join the meeting.

Cheers,
Sam

Hi Mylyn dev community!

I implement YouTrack mylyn connector and create bug 427190. If it is possible I really want to make a presentation at nearest meeting on February 12.

Planning to show next workflow: Create new repository -> Add new Query -> Edit issue and submit it -> Add a comment -> Create new issue -> Open existed in tracker issue and other features.

I have never called conference meeting before, so I have questions about: I am in Saint-Persburg Russia, so what phone number should I use? And another question. Need I install GoToMeeting app for screen sharing, connected to mentioned ID and what is next?

If anyone have suggestions or remarks I will appreciate to get it.

Hi Alexander,

There is a GoToMeeting link on the meetings page that we can use for screen sharing. I don't think you need to prepare an elaborate demo. What I have in mind is that you would walk through setting up a repository connection, creating queries, submitting tasks, etc. so that we can see how the core functionality works and that the UI and workflows are consistent with other connectors and with Eclipse UI.

Once you are ready to schedule a demo, please create a subtask of the following bug providing a link to the connector's bug tracker, forum, or other support channels and an update site URL:

279709: manage Mylyn Connector Discovery listing
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam and others,

sorry for the delay. I appreciate your answer, it's very nice to hear that you are interested in my work. I think we do our internal code review before demo for a better product quality.

Yes, YouTrack has a big community and there will be no problem with project maintaining.

I also have some questions:
*what kind of demo can I create? Are there some examples? (Or is it free-styled?)
*what type of questions can i report about? My plugin is able to create new queries, new tasks, edit existed tasks and so on. Must I show this usages?
*did i understand right, GoToMeeting - is a usual meeting?

Thank you for the answers.

Hi Alexander,

Please excuse the slow response - I've just come back from vacation.

It's great to hear that you're working on a Mylyn connector! We would be happy to include it in Discovery if it meets the criteria, including:

* An active user community and support channel
* A commitment from you to maintain the Discovery listing

The requirement to "implement all of the corresponding Mylyn APIs" just means that the connector should be complete in terms of the core functionality. So not having duplicate detection is probably OK, but not supporting submission of tasks (for example) would be a problem. A good way to verify completeness would be to do a UI review. If you feel that the connector meets the criteria or even if you just want some feedback, please feel free to add a UI review as an agenda item at http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn/Meetings and do a demo over GoToMeeting.

Cheers,
Sam

Hi again.

Is this a right place for such questions like above?

Hi everybody!

I am working on new Mylyn connector for Jetbrains bugtracker YouTrack. Now I am ready to release first version of it and the question is how to contribute in Eclipse. How to do that?

The main goal of course is to show connector in Mylyn Connector Discovery menu. As I see in this page, I must request a review in Mylyn call, is it true? Also I am not sure what does "Implement all of the corresponding Mylyn APIs" condition mean. If I have not developed Duplicate Detection yet (for example), can my connector be relevant for community? I am glad to hear more about this condition too.

Thanks for your attention.
