I think this is a fantastic use case for the WikiText tools, especially if the tools supported remote publishing as well as local capture, providing a full round-trip with possibility for version control, etc.. That sounds like it should be easy, but its really not as you can't just FTP the WikiText to the remote. The lack of a round-trip is a real barrier to having a really good workflow for crowd sourced documentation.

 (David, I think this might have also come up between us a long-time back on one of your blog posts or something..)

The editing features of Mylyn WikiText are designed for editing local files, however Mylyn WikiText provides API to make it easy to embed a wiki markup source editor in other applications.   It would be relatively easy to create an application that uses a wiki's remote API to edit pages using Mylyn WikiText.  A good place to start is the WikiText Developer Guide, org.eclipse.mylyn.wikitext.ui.editor.MarkupSourceViewer and org.eclipse.mylyn.wikitext.ui.editor.WikiTextSourceEditor.
