Hello all,

interesting, for us in our company code freeze that the version to be released is branched off into
a release branch allowing later maintenance.

This is exactly what branches are meant for: decouple dependencies in the time dimension.
(On the opposite, branches are considered bad to decouple dependencies in the space dimension, ie
different software components.)

Perhaps SVN would be better suited for branching, Subversive is quite good in the meanwhile...
