Re: [mylyn-dev] Use of [patch] in bugzilla

By the way, contributer can only change the summary if the bug is assigned to them. If not you get the following error.

"You tried to change the Summary field from "Context / Copy to..." action should allow to create new task to[patch] "Context / Copy to..." action should allow to create new task , but only the assignee or reporter of the bug, or a sufficiently empowered user may change that field."

By the way Mik, I don't think we have a consistent policy about these [patch] tags. For example, I've noticed that Rob been removing them when resolving issues, but you - wasn't.
I think it is probably a good idea to leave [patch] tags there even for resolved tasks.

Also, I am not sure if bug 196032 cover all common use cases. For example, allow to quickly search for pending patches or create query that will include all tasks that have pending patches.

Good question. This is an informal policy that we decided on a call in order to help us prioritize bugs with patches higher than others. It is a work-around for the fact that we don’t have a fix for this yet:

196032: decoration for pending patches / needs review

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=196032

It can be added by either contributor or committer. If committers continue employing it and finding it helpful, and we don’t get to solving that bug in the near future, then we can add it to the Contributor Reference.

Hi, sorry for spamming the list with this quick question, but I noted recently you started to prefix some bugs with pending reviews with "[patch]" in summary.

Is that supposed to be made by me/contributor after submiting a patch to signal you that a patch was posted, or is it just a internal convention?

I haven't found anything about that in contributor reference (http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Mylyn_Contributor_Reference#Patches <http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Mylyn_Contributor_Reference#Patches>).

Thanks.
