Regarding the overview ruler, I'm not sure yet how this will play out.
I'm still in the process of looking at Jeff's patch and figuring out how
this is all going to work. :) If possible I'm hoping that on the first
iteration we can get squiggles (text annotations) without the rulers,
but considering Jeff's comments I'm not too optimistic at this point.

I plan on looking at Jeff's patch today to see what is required to
get it working with the text viewers...
Why TextViewer would be better then SourceViewer for this case?
I meant SourceViewer here. Off the top of my head I can't recall the
original reasoning behind the choice of SourceViewer over TextViewer.
Likely the decision was related to hyperlinking support but I'm not certain.
