This evolved from the need to easily add
tasks from trackers for which we do not have connectors. My experience is
similar to yours: more than ½ the time it is annoying. To start I think we
have to make it optional, and already have a bug for that so I bumped its
priority:
146278: make auto insertion from of web
link from clipboard optional
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=146278
However, once the web resources stuff is
solid I think we may be able to remove the “Web Link” altogether,
since any relevant Web Links show up in the context, and if they’re
really important you can just make them a landmark. To support pasted in links
it would be nice to have a hyperlink detector in the Notes field, so I just
added:
147343: notes field should have hyperlink
detector
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=147343
Also, Eugene
is in the process of contributing a web only connector that makes it easier to
work with repositories which don’t have a custom connector. Once that’s
done I think we will be able to get rid of the Ctrl+C functionality altogether rather
than leaving it as an option.
145123: Support for generic web-based
repositories

Subject: [mylar-dev] Auto web link
from clipboard confusing
Upon creating a new local task we currently grab the
clipboard text and if it is a URL automatically add it to the task as a web
link (Planning view). This has been bugging me and has confused at
least one other user that I am aware of. I think we should consider
removing this capability. Thoughts?
