[mosquitto-dev] Broker stops processing messages

During the time it takes for the broker's connect to the bridge server to complete it stops processing other messages. This is normally not a problem as the connection completes quickly but we have an IoT device that sometimes has a very poor connection and it can take several seconds for the bridge connect to complete. When this happens published messages are not sent to subscribers causing the entire device to stop processing data. We have seen this on verions thru 1.5.8.

Is there a work around or plans to fix this?
