Roger has very good step-by-step instructions for installing the latest
version of Mosquitto for Debian on his website here:

http://mosquitto.org/2013/01/mosquitto-debian-repository/

If you follow these on your Raspberry Pi, it should work there as well.  At
least it did for me.

Hi Guy,

Actually you should use the Debian repository at repo.mosquitto.org to get
the latest version of mosquitto on your Pi. The packages available in the Pi
repositories are very old - assuming you're using raspbian wheezy. If you're
on raspbian jessie then the distro packages are a bit more up to date.
